Christmas Tree Hunting

Our mission: To find a big Christmas Tree. At first Sarah wanted a little one, but then Emily told her that it needed to be big so it could fit lots of presents underneath. So Sarah then decided we needed a BIG (picture arms spread out, eyes and mouth wide open as she says it) ONE.

Sarah knew just who to talk to. Daddy. (Notice she's got him wrapped.)

The search was on.

A little too big, Grace.

Ummm, maybe next year girls.

Keep Looking

Am I cuter than this tree, Mom? (Of course, my love.)

How about now? (No comment)

"It's like herding cats."

We found it Daddy!

Make sure nobody else gets it Em.

Bless the tree.

And the 3 B's.

And while you're at it you can bless me.

"MOM, Stop taking pictures and let's go get some hot chocolate."

Daddy'll figure out how to get it home.

Job well done.

The Bash

Emily's Birthday Bash started how it so often does--in a wake up Daddy party. There's just something about seeing him smile through half-opened eyes in an effort to be excited at 7AM on a Saturday.

Em had been waiting all week to open her first present--it was her costume for her party. She wanted to be Jasmine. She made a very convincing one, wouldn't you say?

Oh, and a princess must have her slippers!

Sarah got things going on her Birthday Mobile as we danced around to Seven and had cinnamon buns hot out of the oven (thank you Pillsbury). The Costume party started at 1:30. Here's the funny thing: I had sent invitation to her whole class, but only 6 people RSVP'd. And then we had the kids from the neighborhood. So I thought we might have about 15 people all together. After 20 children arrived, I realized that most of the kids had RSVP'd by e-mail, and I hadn't gotten any of them! Thankfully, I always have too much food. So more was merrier and Em got a Polly Pocket and Petshop loot!
We all dressed up and had a blast!
Heather dressed up as her husband (Pizza Man) Sal.

Redilocks

Matt's missing his spiderman costume.
(The one he had when he was seven.)
Drama Queen
Gotcha!
Beauty and the Beast (you got the wrong princess, dude).
More Friends
Games
Food. (Em wanted soft pretzels.)
The Cake
We want cake! Where's our cake?

More Presents

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!

And finally Sisters.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EM!
WE LOVE YOU

Sarah's Spots

A couple things about Sarah:
She loves to draw. I got piles of notebooks for 10 cents a piece during the back to school sales and she loves to go through them and draw one thing on each page. I think half the fun is making a mark on a clean sheet of paper. Last night we learned how to trace our hands on paper.
Her favorite book (this week) is Put Me in the Zoo by Robert Lopshire. She is now walking around threatening people to put her spots on them.
She thinks the big bad wolf lives in her room.
And she likes to blow people's houses down.
She is incredibly picky about her clothing. Yesterday I finally took her shopping because the only thing she would put on without a fight were the two orange bear t-shirts Jean bought her and three pairs of shorts.
So yesterday she picked out a snowman t-shirt and a purple pair of pants with a belt that has spots on it and of course...the "spotted" pajamas she's wearing.
Sarah refuses to have any other blanket in her crib except her pink strawberry shortcake blanket. It's small, so when she rolls around at night it doesn't keep her covered. So I feel like the only responsible thing to do is have her wear footie pajamas so she stays reasonably warm.
Her favorite food is candy--lollipops mostly...and mints. But she likes Ranch dip with a little broccoli and frozen blueberries too.
She's a bit tenacious. I think she gets it from Silly Pa.
Funny Story: So Tuesday I was at Roots getting pretzels for Em's party on Saturday and Sarah was with me. So when we got out of the car, Sarah saw an Amish horse and buggy and was all excited about the horse. So we went over and said hi to the horsey, did what we needed to do at Roots and headed back towards the car. Well, as we approached the horse, the Amish man the horse belonged to was standing next to it: long beard, suspenders, big straw hat--the whole garb. We get right up close to him and Sarah gasps excitedly (and very loudly), "Mamma, there's the cowboy!"
She's terribly two and I love it.
